Product Description:
XCalibr™ is a windowless, demountable, soft x-ray tube designed specifically for calibration and inspection. It has sixteen discrete anodes mounted on a copper wheel. The wheel is conductively cooled via a pair of peltier coolers or by direct conductive cooling. Optional filter wheels allow eight different filters per wheel to be moved into the path of the x-ray beams. Inexpensive, easily replaceable tungsten hairpin filaments serve as the electron emitter.
Calibrated X-ray Source Four anode ports give equal views of the x-ray point source. This allows one port to monitor the beam while conducting experiments on the other ports. If the beam monitor has energy resolution, such as a Si(Li) detector or a Gas Flow Proportional Counter (GFPC), particular x-ray lines can be monitored. Thus it is possible to calibrate a detector or measure the transmission of a thin film at a particular energy.
Low Noise Detection XCalibr™ can also be configured with a pulsed electron source. This results in a pulsed x-ray source that can be used in conjunction with a lock-in amplifier. This configuration is particularly useful when extremely weak signals, as low as femtoamps/nanovolts, need to be measured such as with photoemission studies. Contact XSI for further details.
Special Sources XSI can also produce special x-ray tube and power supplies with the following design features: ceramic and metal construction, special anode materials, demountable or sealed tubes, special window materials (Beryllium, Titanium, etc...), and peltier, radiative, or water cooling.
